SLADEST

So there it was …Merry Christmas…everybody having fun….

The working Men’s Club was packed on Saturday 22nd December as Andy Reilly, Rod Allen and the Lads (SLADEST) effortlessly worked their way through two thunderous sets of songs from around the 70’s originally brought to us by Noddy Holder, Dave Hill, Jimmy Lea and Don Powel (He was the one in the car crash) collectively known as Slade.

One of the only bands ever to have their own permanent changing room at Top of The Pops, Slade were renowned not only for their outrageous clothes but for being one of the first bands to purposely miss spell the titles of their tracks. ‘Coz I Luv You’ and 'Look Wot You Dun'.

Even though the night with SLADEST now seems so ‘Far Far Away’ they still made everyone feel the ‘Noize’ and  gave me the chance to meet ‘My Friend Stan’ for the first time in years before saying  ‘Goodbye t’ Jane’.

And for those that don’t remember SLADE... think of this… one day your grandchildren will learn to love ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ and sing it just as loudly as you!

…look to the future now, it’s only just begun.
