The annual game of golf was played at Mendip Spring Golf Course on April the 17th in memory of Dave Mason who lived in Pilton. Dave was a long serving member in the Territorial Army and also a keen golfer who regularly played courses in the South West.

The winner of this years competition was Craig Maundrill. Craig who was the 2008 runner up beat last years winner Nick Poore into second place by the smallest of margins. Craig also won the nearest the pin on the eighteenth. The longest drive on the 16th fairway was won by Rob Higgins.

All 18 players had to tee off and putt on the forth fairway using Dave’s original left handed clubs resulting in some very unusual shots.

Joyce Mason and family including grand children were warmly welcomed to make the presentations to the winning players. Seventy pounds was raised and will be devided between SSAFA Forces Help for ex-Servicemen, women and their families and Royal British Legion Honour our D-Day Heroes.

The tournament organiser John Rossiter on behalf of Joyce and her family would like to convey their thanks to Mendip Spring Golf Club at Congresbury for making it such a memorable day.
