Saturday 14th March 2009 Another great act and another sold out night at the PWMC. Saturday 14th March was the latest of the very popular Cabaret nights at the Pilton Club and this time it was Elvis Presley in the shape of Tim Basset who entertained the capacity crowd. It was the fanfare that was to become synonymous with the start of all the Las Vegas Shows ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’ (known by many as the theme to the film ‘2001’) that heralded the first of the two sets. The leather clad Elvis began by leading the audience through a plethora of hits from the ‘early years’ including ‘Blue Sued Shoes’, ‘All Shook Up’ and ‘Hound Dog’ before returning later in the night donning the familiar black and white jump suite. Songs from a later era then accompanied an ever growing dance floor and ended as only such a night could with “I can’t help falling in love with you”. For now Elvis has unfortunately left the building but If you would like to see more, Tim’s website is www.atributetoelvis.co.uk. |
