We arrived on Wednesday. Jade, Sophie, and Nichole, pitched our tent near to the Police Compound (which seemed to be a hole in the hedge with two Policemen standing outside it) zipped it up and left it in reasonable sunshine until Friday evening.
When Friday came we found ourselves standing at one of the drop off points at the beginning of what later seemed a thousand mile walk back to the tent which was at least, I'm glad to say, not only still there but in one piece.
It had rained on Thursday and again most of Friday. All sign of greenery had gone and the ground was now a complete quagmire. But... it was 'Glastonbury Festival' and it didn't matter.

On our way in, we had been handed a bracelet and a booklet which become the 'must have' accessories which hung around our wrists and necks. One to prove that we had bought a ticket and the other showing all the acts that the ticket allowed us to see over the next three days. And what a line up!!! I don't know of anywhere in the world where you could pay so little to see so many acts. My friend sat and worked out that if you divided the ticket price between all the acts it worked out at 43p per act. The only problem is that they obviously put a bit of thought into when and where certain acts are scheduled to play in order to stop everyone rushing to the same area all at once. There were a number of times when I found myself thinking 'this is so hard' deciding about where to be and who to see. Lilly Allen, Fat Boy Slim or Bjork?

The first night the three of us didn't get to sleeping bag until 5.00am. This was mainly because we visited the 'Silent Disco' in the Dance area. This basically meant dancing to your own music played through headphones. Great fun, but even funnier when you stopped and realised that everyone was dancing and singing in their own rhythm to their own music.
Saturday night it was 11.00pm when we found the tent and Sunday.. well, Sunday.... it crept up on us that oooohh nnnooo its the last day.
These are some photographs of this, our first festival, and if we can get tickets next year we'll do it all again...muddy... or not!
