This forgotten old photograph taken in 1937 of Thomas and Gilbert Boyce working at the Pilton Forge was sent in by Diana Knowles.

Sadly, the Forge as was, has long since gone but the site remains pretty much the same and in its place is now a similar sized building which has been restored by John and Liz Reina the present owners.

Thanks to John and Liz we can also see an early arial photograph taken in 1963 of the house with the forge buildings to the left towards Forge House. You may just be able to pick out the two old petrol pumps on the main road side of the structure. (The garage was later relocated to the junction with Top Street).

The Forge photograph above and the Petrol Station are both shown in the History Section.

If you have any old Photographs of life in and around Pilton please e-mail them to postbox@pilton.com

Thanks to Diana Knowles and John and Liz Reina
