SEPTEMBER 2011

In recent months, the Parish Council has been in correspondence with the War Memorial Trust who, on occasions, offer grants towards the maintenance of war memorials.

We are considering improving the access to Pilton War Memorial. The present steps are in a poor state, open directly onto the dangerous A361 and are somewhat challenging to those of us who are less physically fit! The new access, subject to planning permission, would be by means of a ramp from the side – a far safer way of approaching the memorial.

If you would like to comment on this before it is carried further please contact Jean Warry or me.

We are planning a visit very soon to the Public Records office in Taunton in the hope of discovering more about the history of the Memorial and of the Bier House.

There was a well-supported Footpath Committee meeting on August 3rd and we hope to plan a Working Party day towards the end of September.

A reminder of dates:-

1. The next Parish Council meeting is on Wednesday, September 7th at 7.30p.m.

2. The Diamond Jubilee Meeting is in the Hall on Tuesday, September 13th at 7.30 pm.

3. The Festival follow-up meeting arranged by GFL will be on Monday, September 19th at 6pm in the Reception area of the Village Hall.

Our fingers are crossed for good weather for Pilton Show! See you there!
